A great way to meet us and see what we are about is to come along to one of our church services. We would love to have you join us.
Services are run regularly in the two churches that make up the Parish of Richmond. There is Holy Trinity in Richmond (often called Church on the Hill), and historic St. Albans in Appleby.
Holy Trinity/Church on the Hill, Dorset Street, Richmond
Sunday Traditional Communion: 9:00am
This service is based around use of the New Zealand Prayer Book. The music is mostly hymns with some contemporary songs. The organ is often used. There is a choir most Sundays and a music group once a month. A warm, friendly crowd of regulars would be delighted to welcome you to join them. There is a cuppa between services.
Sunday Informal Worship: 10:30am
We’re doing something a bit different with this service. We’re working on building a 10:30 service community that is fully inclusive, so no matter who you are, what age you are, or what background you are from, we want you to find a place to belong here.
The service is based on a traditional Anglican structure, but each worship leader and preacher is free to find interesting, provocative and thoughtful ways to lead us into a deeper experience of God, and our neighbours. We do some different things in this service and are open to feedback as to how we could do it better. There is communion twice a month.
Sunday Combined Services: every 5th Sunday 9.30am
Every few months we like to get together and worship as one congregation. It’s great to mix and mingle and remind ourselves we are part of one big community. The service normally ends up as a mix of the 9:00am and 10:30am service styles with some traditional elements and more contemporary elements.
We normally finish up with a cuppa afterwards.
Sunday Taizé Service: every 1st Sunday 7:00pm
A quiet, contemplative service by candlelight with played music, and spoken words to meditate on.
Wednesday Holy Communion 10:00am
A short communion service with a reflection followed by a cuppa.
Saint Alban’s, Appleby Highway
Traditional Prayer Book Service: 10:30am Every 2nd and 4th Sundays in the month with communion on the 2nd Sunday.
See you soon.
